Saying Yes To The Dress

We went wedding dress shopping in October 2010, so I am only about 2.5 years late on this recap (oops). Most of you know that Danielle and I got engaged within three months of each other (Parker and I got engaged August 28, 2010; Danielle and Logan got engaged October 15, 2010). There was no question in our minds that Danielle and I wanted to go wedding dress shopping together. We have always had a bond that we really can't explain, so this wasn't about each getting our own special time; it was about getting to share it. We went to Brickhouse Bridal in The Woodlands with our mom and two younger sisters, Natalie and Faith. All I can say is it was way too much fun!

Looking back, trying on wedding dresses was easily one of the best parts of wedding planning. The stress hadn't hit yet, and picking your wedding dress somehow makes everything come together. My appointment was first, and Danielle's was second. We all walked around the store grabbing different dresses we liked. Honestly, I didn't really go in with a strict idea of what I wanted. There were a couple of styles that I knew weren't me (mermaid and trumpet, and I wasn't crazy about straps), so that helped narrow the field a bit. I tried on a few dresses that I liked, and then I found THE dress! It was gorgeous, and it was the first time I could really picture myself walking down the aisle to marry Parker. It was the fourth dress I tried on, and I knew there was no need to try on any more. I was giddy and excited and just loved everything about it.

I love the sweetheart neckline, I love the timeless and elegant feel of the dress, and I love the way I felt wearing it. I didn't have that moment where tears were streaming down my face, but I loved the dress, and I knew it was the one for me.

Next up was Danielle, and she found her dress after trying on 4-5 others. When you know, you know, right? I love that each dress shows off our personality and style, and I love that for being so similar, we chose very different dresses.

My personal favorite

My sweet mother was over the moon with joy :)

It was an experience I will treasure forever, and I am so glad I found the perfect dress for me. We said yes to the dress...es!

  2. Your dress is gorgeous! So beautiful. Wedding dress shopping is so fun. If I had a sister, but luckily one of my bridesmaids was at A&M too so we were able to go when my mom was in town one weekend and found the perfect one! I will have to do a wedding recap series soon :)
