Pinterest Fail

We all love Pinterest, right? Great recipes, DIY ideas, and another way to waste countless hours in front of the computer. I like trying new projects just as much as the next person, and I use Pinterest for new recipes weekly. I would love to say I am that person who replicates the beautiful food on Pinterest every time she tries, but that would be a bold-faced lie. Normally the dish comes out just fine, but there have definitely been times when I labor in the kitchen, take a look at my masterpiece, and say "Pinterest FAIL".

A few examples...

Baked Mozzarella Cheese Balls

Sweet & Sour Chicken

Banana Pudding

These aren't the only three recipes I have ever messed up...just the three I chose to document ;). I love to cook, but it's so frustrating to spend so much time on something only to have completely ruined it by the time I'm done. After looking at the final product on each of these recipes, all we could do was laugh. This kind of stuff is supposed to happen in young marriages, right? Thank goodness for the Taco Bell right down the street.

  1. Too funny! Thanks for sharing...I had a recent Pinterest fail too that ended up terribly scalding the inside of my crock pot.

  2. Pinterest fails are the worst. Sometimes I literally look at the picture on the screen and look at my attempt and just can't possible figure out the difference....EXCEPT that I believe that sometimes on pinterest people cheat! For example: I made these ice cream balls and they turned out nothing like the pin so I went and read all of the comments to see what I did wrong and turns out in the shown picture she used MASHED POTATOES instead of ice cream, just to get a better picture! I almost died, I felt so tricked!

  3. Try freezing the cheese before you bake it! I made those and had the same thing happen. The second time I made them, I froze the cheese strings before cutting them, breading them, etc. It kept them from turning into goo in my oven. :) Good luck!

  4. Definitely frustrating to have all of your hard work turn into an epic fail. But, as long as you can laugh about it and move on, that's what it's all about! Gotta love those pinterest projects ;).

  6. If I ever did start blogging...it would be about all my pinterest fails. Beauty, cooking, "easy DIY" things....sometimes things are better left to the professionals. I need to learn how to cook still! I wish you were here to teach me!

  11. I hate when a new recipe doesn't work and you've been slaving over the stove all day, it's the worst!

  12. I have to say, pinterest fail posts are some of my favorites. But I hate spending so much time and ingredients on a recipe and having it fail! Over dinner the other night, my husband told me what a good cook I am now and then what a terrible cook I was the first year we were married, lol!

  14. Oh Pinterest! It's such a great idea, but then I feel like it makes us feel inadequate when our projects or recipes don't measure up! Haha! I guess this is true with magazines (you know, the place people got recipes and DIY ideas before Pinterest...) I often didn't have much success making my projects turn out like they look in a magazine either. Great post, thanks for sharing :)

  15. It's so frustrating when recipes don't turn out. After slaving over the stove I'm too angry to document my fails so I pretend I haven't had any! Haha!! Love this post though that banana pudding still looks edible!

  16. I had the same thing happen to me when I made these cheese balls. Nice to know I am the only one who make the flat cheese. I desperately tried scraping it off the foil to save face, but ended up throwing it all away lol. I think they were missing a step in the directions...

  20. This is hilarious! Pinterest is awesome but the recipes rarely look as good as the pictures. Oh well, domesticity just isn't my strong point!
