Are you still there?...
Good, because this is actually a real thing, and we Aggies love it. Sister girl Bree made the family proud and dunked her ring in 36 seconds. Now all the Phelps kiddos have properly dunked Aggie rings!

Those of you who know me know I don't really drink. I don't have anything against it and certainly don't judge those who do, but I can probably count on one hand how many times I have drank this year. When I do drink, it's a girly, fruity concoction. I hate beer. That said, I was definitely going to dunk my Aggie ring when I received it back in 2010. It's a tradition and I wanted to be a part of it. Here are a few throwbacks from my ring dunk. I dunked with Parker, my twin sister, and her now husband.
Ready to get it over with! |
Mom and Dad have never been prouder, let me tell ya! |
Rings are dunked...and I wasn't feeling so hot at this point... |
I know this sounds like the silliest tradition, but it is a tradition we Aggies get so excited for. Receiving your Aggie ring is a milestone, and dunking it solidifies that accomplishment. It was a great experience and an honor to participate, but I would never voluntarily decide to chug four beers in a row again, that's for sure. :)
I have never heard of this, but it sounds like such a neat, original tradition.
ReplyDeleteI love traditions like that. But a pitcher of beer? That's tough. You're a champ! Back in college I may have survived, but not these days!
ReplyDeleteGreat tradition!
ReplyDeleteI am with you, I don't drink but when I do, it's not beer!
That's awesome! I'd never heard of this before, and it's really cool seeing traditions different schools have! :)

I've never heard of this but I love a good school tradition! That's so cute that you were able to go for his sisters dunking! Did they get those shirts made for the occasion?
ReplyDeleteWow! I almost went to google this before you explained it all! That is pretty cool! And don't worry.. I'm not much of a beer girl either =) Yuck!
ReplyDeleteTraditions are so fun! Do you actually drop the ring into the bottom of the beer?

Haha, I love this!! What an awesome tradition! There is no way I could chug a whole pitcher today, perhaps immediately following college graduation I'd be in the running!
ReplyDeleteI would be so sick! It's so cool reading about other college's traditions... Students at Murray State don't even buy a ring!
ReplyDeletei couldnt drink all that. i've been limiting my drinking. due to not gallbladder and stomach issues all that isnt good for me. esp heavy liquor and such
ReplyDeleteSister Bree for the win! 36 seconds is beast mode for sure. One of the most entertaining things is Ring Dunks. Love it!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of this, but I love it! Traditions like this are so fun and memorable.

Is this a family tradition? If so, it's one of the best I've seen. The most badass my family gets is playing a game we like to call 'Killer Croquet'
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but I have never dunked my Aggie ring :( I keep saying I am going to one day but it hasn't happened yet.
ReplyDeletethis looks like fun! and its not like you do it all the time, its just to celebrate an accomplishment :)

I didn't go to A&M, but my hubby did for grad school and I remember when it was ring dunking weekend. Wow. I was amazed. Such a huge deal! I don't think I could do that, but it is a really fun tradition. How fun that you got to go to her ring dunk! I'm sure you all had a fun time :)
ReplyDeletep.s. I thought of you when I wrote a post for the Liebster Award and picked you as one of my people :) I thought it was a fun little thing to do.

What a fun tradition!! Glad you partook in it even though beer is not your thing!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I've never heard of such a thing. That's a pretty cool tradition though. I would probably hurl before I got to my ring. I'm not a big beer drinker, but I'm sure I would have acquired the taste by the end of that pitcher.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up with Meet and Greet! I'm already loving your page! Your layout is too cute!
Haha. What an awesomly hilarious tradition. I love how much spirit you Aggies have. :-)
ReplyDeleteOMG What a great tradition!! I haven't heard of this, but it's such a great tradition!!

My sister dunked hers this weekend too! Congrats to your SIL!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this, but what a neat tradition! Sounds like something me and a few of my friends would want to do ha ha.
ReplyDeletei didn't know that this was a tradition. I love it! You look so cute after y'all "dunked" your ring! Seriously, y'all are soo adorable!!
ReplyDeleteHaha!! One of my favorite (and not so favorite) traditions! ;)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE reading all of your Aggie traditions! This sounds awesome! Except I also hate beer. I just ordered my class ring. I'm so excited to get it.
