Because clicking a link is hard, yall.
Well, at least it is for my husband. Let's back up. Last week, Parker came to me with what appeared to be a small epiphany. He said "Ya know, if you had pictures of all the recipes instead of just text links, I could easily pick out what I would like to eat without having to click every single post." I am sure I responded with a little sarcasm because the request of course airs on the side of lazy, but he had a point. That would be easier and more visually appealing. And let's face it, I get kind of excited every time Parker comes up with a new idea for the blog. I am usually the only one that writes posts, but he has come up with a lot of ideas for this little slice of the Internet that I've loved. It's predominantly my hobby, but it's also a hobby that we share. So thanks to my husband, each recipe is now shown with an image on my Recipes tab. How convenient, and now he can avoid the potential finger cramp from having to click too many links ;)
The second change is something I got overly excited about, but thankfully Parker shared in my enthusiasm. This little blog now has it's own domain! anchorsaweigh-ouradventure.blogspot.com (seriously, what a mouthful) is now simply anchorsaweighblog.com. It's fun to have our own website! New bloggers, I would seriously recommend doing this from the get-go. I wish I would have had someone to hold my hand and teach me the ropes of this whole blogging thing, because boy was there a lot to learn! You can purchase your own domain for $12 a year, and you might as well do it when you start so you don't have to worry about switching everything over. That was less than convenient.
That's about it! Next time you get hungry, hop on over to my Recipes tab and look for something yummy to make. No extensive link clicking required ;)
So excited I found your site! The recipes all look amazing! xoxo

Yay for owning your own domain! I keep pondering whether I should do it for the personal blog or not, simply because I already own a domain for my book blog haha :)
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely be eating all those foods by the way!
It's so true! It's like when I go to the store or library to find a new cookbook... the best cookbooks are the ones that have pictures of EVERY recipe! Love your little make over - it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI've been pondering getting my own domain. I might have to do a little more research and actually consider it! I love the pictures with the recipe links too!

ReplyDeleteIt all looks great! I'm not new to writing for my blog, but I've always gone the simplest and basic route. I might have to pick your brain for some blog website ideas. I didn't realize having your own domain was so inexpensive! Was it hard to create it and switch it all over???
ReplyDeleteLove that there are pictures with the recipes, it does make it a little more appealing and easier for us ;D Yay that you switched over to your own domain! I was so excited when I dropped the .blogspot!
ReplyDeleteI love the changes to your blog! I actually noticed them both before you pointed them out. I'm so excited to see how Anchors Aweigh grows and to be friends with you because of this fun hobby we both share!
