When Parker and I got married, we didn't jump right into buying nice furniture and setting up house. We knew it would be years before we actually bought a house, and it just didn't seem to make sense to buy nice living room furniture until we were a little more settled. We bought a couch and love seat from a guy that was graduating at Texas A&M, and he threw in a ladder, George Foreman, cups, speakers, and a projection TV. For $400, this was a steal. Side note before I continue: if you are in the market for used furniture, hit up Craigslist around May when everyone is graduating. They just want to get rid of things so they don't have to move them, and you will score a great deal.
Anyway, fast forward 3 years, and we were ready for an upgrade. Being a military wife and moving so often, I never really got to set up a house exactly how I wanted to. I always just accumulated things that didn't really go together with the intention of creating our "dream living room" once we finally are semi-settled down. We decided now was just as good of a time as any, and we went for it. We even gave our couches away before we moved from Kingsville, so there was no turning back.

We shopped around the local furniture stores and ultimately found something we love at Rooms To Go. It was just perfect for us. We have always been set on wanting a sectional, so that's really all we looked at. I am so excited about our new living room. All it needs in my opinion is hardwood floors, but that part is a bit out of our control since we are renting. So without further ado, here it is!
These curtains were gifted to us for our wedding, and I think they really bring the room together.
I love this stud detail on the sofa. The brushed nickel feels so elegant to me.
Parker built this coffee table early on in our marriage, and I just love it.
This rug is simple, but we loved the detail.
Sectional: Rooms To Go
I LOVE it! We got a couch shortly after we got married, and it's a sectional like this. I love it, but when we got kittens, they put a few holes in the fabric. My husband always wants to replace it (now that they aren't kittens anymore) but I told him that this is our couch that will last us through the beginning stages of our kids… because I KNOW babies are going to destroy our furniture!! And I'm okay with that, I just don't want to get something new yet! The yellow pillows are so spring-y! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I LOVE that coffee table!

I love it! It looks so inviting. John and I are going to look into Rooms To Go for our furniture. They have such cute stuff at reasonable prices.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it!! We are in the market for a sectional and can't wait to find the right one.
ReplyDeleteLooks so cozy and yet still has a nice elegant shape! (I felt very old just typing that!) I agree about the pillows too - modern but still classic :)
ReplyDeletein LOVE!
ReplyDeletethe stud details make it!
(and that coffee table = swoon!)
It looks so nice! I love the curtains too!
ReplyDeleteWe love our sectional! They are really the way to go! And I agree with the yellow and gray combo!
ReplyDeleteLove it! We have slowly started replacing our Ikea furniture for grown up furniture. It's nice to update and upgrade!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love Craigslist! I've been able to not only score some great deals on there, but get rid of stuff as well.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new set, so pretty :)
Looks great! We just upgraded since moving here, about 6 years into our marriage after a similar $400 steal. We got leather and I LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteLove your couches too, but that light color would not last long in my house....I love him, but my hubby is the king of spilling/splattering.

Rooms to Go is GREAT! When the boyfriend & I moved in together we had no furniture whatsoever since we both had moved from different states to Texas. We definitely went the more expensive route & got a full living rooms set for apartment living but couldn't have made a better choice! Now if we move again however, moving is going to be the worst!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the bloghop!
Excited to read more!

I love it!! We bought a couch when we got married and are ready for a new one. Lol. We bought a tan one and the corners are so nasty from the dogs. I clean them once a month but it's a royal pain. Now that we bought a house, we want to change up the color scheme from browns/tans to greys so we're in the market for a charcoal couch. And we have a loft that is empty so we can put the current couch up there. We should look at Rooms to Go. We got our bedroom set there and LOVE it! Hopefully Jenny doesn't make your couches dirty like our girls did. Since we don't allow them on the furniture, they're always walking by and rubbing against and laying against. Or wrestling against it lol
ReplyDeleteI really love the studs on the couch. Buying furniture is so grownup and so much better than Craigslist hand me downs!
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously so obsessing over that coffee table right now! I'm 25 and we just bought our first house a year ago so I'm in the process of buying new "updated" things. Right now I'm swooning over a buffet at Pier 1 and some Pottery Barn chairs!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it!!! Your living room looks great. We got our couch and loveseat for $50 on Craigslist and they are perfect! I don't think we'll be upgrading anytime soon since we love them so much. :-)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about how much I loved it but how it would never last through my kids :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the couch that you guys picked out, so much so that I pinned it!! I can't wait until we get a nice furniture set. Ours was $50 from a thrift store, and the other was handed down to us from John's mom. Both are falling apart :(
ReplyDeletecute. the pics that are behind the couch on the wall. Why's it look like in the one on the left that ya'll or they are flying in mid air or whatever. or so it seems.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE BENJAMIN KNOX PRINTS!!! Ahhh, love it SO much!!! Ok, so I have been painting some, and I am hoping to re-create all the Benjamin Knox Aggie paintings, specifically the boots and the barn ones. SO excited for that! Also, love your living room. that's such a nice sectional! We really enjoy our sectional - seriously, so much better than a regular size couch. And it fits the room perfect!

ReplyDeleteI love that couch!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! So cute! My dream living room has a futon. But a nice, classy futon for when I have guests.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great girl!!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that Parker built the table. Stuff like that is so important to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up on my blog reading so I'm a tad bit behind. I obviously love the new furniture! Hooray for big kid purchases!
