I always hoped the man I married would have a good relationship with my family. Those are my people, after all. My parents love Parker and have been supportive of our relationship from day 1. I know this is a huge blessing and it's not always like this, and I'm grateful. My parents loved Parker, my grandparents loved Parker... sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. Reversing it, I also have a great relationship with Parker's family, and they have loved me as their own from day 1. Again, sounds like we're set, right? That was all wonderful, but there was another part of me that Parker had to accept before we got married. He wasn't just getting me.
I was a package deal. With me, you get me + twin.
Don't get me wrong, my life isn't an episode of sister wives or anything. Weird. Awkward. Moving on. If you have known me for .2 seconds or read this blog long, you know I have an identical twin sister. Being a twin is a part of who I am, and we are best friends. Our dream is to live next door to each other and watch reality television on the couch while our kiddos play. The Navy isn't on board right now, but we're working on it.
In all seriousness, we are really close. Like, really close. We talk on the phone/Facetime at least 3-4 times a day. We tell each other everything. We stick up for each other even if we think the other is in the wrong. People used to go up to one of us in high school and tell us they thought we were the prettier twin. All I hear when someone says that to me is you don't think my best friend is pretty. Rude. It's not a compliment. It's awkward. I mean, for one thing, we have the same face, so there's that. We get into laughing spells for no reason whatsoever and can't even control ourselves. They had to separate us in the 7th grade for laughing too hard during a standardized test. How did we get so worked up when the whole room was under silence all day? All I can say is it wasn't the first time. Twins are just a different breed.
Thank goodness our husbands are so supportive. Seriously, thank goodness. They are supportive, but that doesn't mean they don't think we are completely ridiculous. I can't blame them, really. Parker actually thinks we are funny and loves listening to us talk. In his words, "It's so good that you have someone that thinks you're as funny as you do". It's like receiving a giant hug, obviously. So our husbands have to deal with daily doses of weirdness and understand that if we don't get to talk to each other, we get mopey. It's true. You can't make this stuff up.
That twin of mine graduates from nursing school today as a RN! I couldn't be more proud of her! She took the road less traveled and stepped out of her comfort zone, and today she celebrates the culmination of so much hard work and dedication. Proud to be her twin today and every day, and thankful for a husband who recognized that I was a package deal and chooses to put up with me anyway! That's all I can ask for, really.
And, naturally, our dog children are best friends. Sully and Jenny forever!

I love how close you guys are! That's really awesome. I've never been close to my brother, but he's younger by four years. Reading your blog makes me want to have twins soooo badly someday, though!
This is way to cute! Congrats to your sister. That's not an easy program! I love that your dogs are bffs too!

I'm so glad someone else understands what it is like to be a multiple! I cannot imagine being close to my sisters.
I don't have a twin but I have sisters. We remind all our husbands "you marry one of us, you marry ALL of us!"
Aw, that is so sweet. I am not a twin, but my sister and I are really close and usually talk on the phone at least once a day. Congrats to your sister on her graduation!

That it so awesome. I have always wanted a twin. I still hope that we have twins. It's great that y'all are so close because I am not close with my bro at all. Have fun back home.
What a sweet post! What a blessing to have families that support each other! Love it!
I can only imagine what a special bond would be like with a twin! You guys are so lucky to have each other!
I love the picture of the pups.
What a sweet post! I always wanted to be a twin when I was growing up. My aunts are twins, but I think it was more of a product of reading Sweet Valley High. And I love when dogs cuddle, just warms my heart.
I've always wanted a twin...I think it's so cool that y'all are so close. I'm sure she appreciates this post from you!
