Let's Go To The Zoo

So Parker and I woke up Monday morning and decided, "hey, let's go to the zoo". And then we did. That's about how much thought went into it, but it was Labor Day. We had to capitalize on this glorious day off from work. 

Seriously though, the zoo is fun. We joked as we pulled into the parking lot that we would be the only ones there without kids. And then that notion was indeed proven true. I didn't see one other couple or group without at least one kid. Adults without kids, you're missing out! This zoo is on the smaller side, so we were able to walk on foot and see everything in under 2 hours. That's my kind of zoo. It was actually hot that day in Norfolk, go figure, so 2 hours was just long enough for me to bear sweating my rear end off. 

I think the zoo brings out the kid in all of us. I loved seeing all of the animals, but I got especially giddy seeing the giraffes and bears. We both walked away wanting a monkey and then realizing we kind of already have one. Seeing those crazy hyperactive monkeys reminded us that our new pup Darla really might be part monkey. We're looking into it. Anyway, it was a blast, and we made sure to take selfies with our favorite animals. That's normal, right?

Reminded me of Pride Rock! The zoo is a scene out of The Lion King, really.

 Yall, that tortoise in the rightt picture is a real tortoise. That thing was huge! The rhino was not real, in case that required any sort of clarification.

I was mesmerized by the giraffes. They just eat and walk around, but they do it so adorably.

Bad picture, but the bears were hilarious. They were just so lazy but also could have killed us in a nanosecond, so there's that.
