So we are 6 days into the new year, and so far I think Parker and I would sum it up in one word... cold. Really the weather outside has been just fine. I mean it's winter, so I'm not talking beach weather, but it's been a bearable winter in our neck of the woods. What's been cold is our house! We arrived home from our Christmas vacation to find our heater had stopped working on Thursday evening. We bundled up but knew we could have someone come out the next day to fix it. The good news is someone did come out, but the bad news is he didn't have the part he needed, so he would be returning Monday with the part to fix it. We got to have a weekend with no heat. Cool, literally and figuratively.
We were given a small space heater which helped keep the bedroom warm, but it was a rough few days with frozen fingers and toes! We tried to make the most of it though. Cold weather is snuggle weather, even if your own house is the source of the cold. Blankets covered the couch, and the pups thought that was the greatest thing ever. We even made a tent on the bed using a sun shade for the car. Desperate times calls for desperate measures. Also, never grow up :)

Sometimes I can't handle the cuteness from these two sister pups. |
The highlight of our snuggly weekend in was smores over the fire... ahem... stovetop. Yes, we kept things very classy over here. Smores are the perfect cold weather treat, and the marshmallows roast quite well on the stovetop! You just may feel a little silly doing it. However, the deliciousness is worth it.
We are looking forward to warmer days... in the house anyway. Our heater was finally fixed yesterday, just in time for the 20s and 30s weather we are expecting this week!
What are your favorite indoor snow day activities? It technically didn't snow this past weekend, but it sure felt like it in the house!

I despise snow and the cold but one of my favorite memories is a day in Massachusetts when we were snowed in with no power. We made a fort in the living room and watched movies on our iPad.
Yay, I'm glad it is working and that the both of you made the best out of the situation.
Heat problems are the worst! 2 years ago, our furnace quit on the coldest day in January. In northern Minnesota, that is quite cold! We used space heaters and snuggled under blankets until hubby got it fixed. I thank God every day for our heat now!
Ryan and I made s'mores on the stove almost every night before he left. We just like to keep things classy! Glad you guys are having some serious snuggle time until your heater is back up and working! :)
It's supposed to be in the LOW TEENS here this week! Brr!!!
I can't believe they made you wait all weekend without heat! That's insane. I would have been so mad. I'm glad you guys made the most of it, though - and those s'mores look delicious!
Oh the picture of the dogs just melts my heart! Precious.
I'm glad you got your heater fixed and made the best of your cool situation. It's supposed to get cold in Richmond come Thursday, that would have been no good without a heater.
The doggies look so cute cuddled up together! The s'mores were a great idea... and yummy!

YIKES!!! What did the temperature get to in your house?! I would have insisted we stay with someone haha. Okay, maybe not but I am a baby when it comes to the cold. Our heat is set to 75 and in the summer the AC is at 77 (why does 70 heat feel so much warmer than 70 AC??). When I'm cold, I'm a crab and no fun for anyone around me haha. Y'all are troopers!
Brr! I cannot stand when our house is too cold. However I am almost always cold. That is too cute that you guys roasted marshmallows over the stove top!
This is how I feel in our house 100% of the time. Tom is like a heater, and I run like an ice box, so we have to split the difference. I usually am always in a hoodie/sweatpants and warm fuzzy socks. My favorite snowy activities are drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and watching RomComs.
