Getting My Run On With Intel SMS Audio BioSport Earbuds

One of my goals in the new year is to get back into running. Running took a backseat when I was pregnant, and I had to cut it out altogether for a few weeks after my surgery at the end of last year. I'm basically starting from ground zero with the running game, but I am determined to get back where I was. This time last year, I was about to run my first half marathon, and I want to get to that point again!

A crucial part of running for me is listening to podcasts or music. I applaud those people who can go on hour long runs with nothing but their thoughts and be totally content. I must not have enough thoughts, because that is not me. I need to be entertained. I was introduced to Intel SMS Audio BioSport Earbuds, and they have been the perfect companion to ease back into running.

Biosport's fitness-monitoring biometrics technology measures your heart rate with a built-in optical sensor, has premier sound quality, includes an integrated charging system, and will sync with the RunKeeper App (available for your smartphone).

The thing that intrigued me most about these headphones was the heart rate measuring capability. When I was pregnant with Taylor, I got into the habit of checking my heart rate after each run. Pregnant ladies have to be careful with that stuff, and now that I am completely out of shape and starting from the bottom, I want to continue to be careful and make sure my heart rate is where it needs to be during and after runs.

Before I go on runs, I sync up my earbuds with my RunKeeper App on my iPhone (it's free), but buying the Intel SMS Audio BioSport Earbuds also gave me a free month of RunKeeper Elite to use as well. All I have to do is open the app, plug my earbuds into my phone, and switch the slider to "Heart Rate Mode". I can track my work-out and also make sure my heart rate is where it should be at all times. When my sister calls in the middle of my work-out, which she is notorious for doing, I can switch from the heart rate monitoring to the microphone mode in one fluid motion on the slider. If you have a high-maintenance twin in your life, this feature is for you. When I am sweating my face off, the last thing I want to do is put the phone to my ear, so answering calls using the microphone on these earbuds is a gift.

These earbuds can also play or pause music, skip to the next track, go back to the previous track, launch voice recognition, and answer/decline/mute calls. In short, these babies can do it all.

What is the blog for if not to post close up, no make-up pictures? I've never been one to dress up for my workouts!
I purchased my earbuds at Dick's Sporting Goods, but you can buy yours HERE. U.S. residents can use the 20% off code BioSport20 until January 31, 2015.

I wish I could run with music but I have to be able to hear what is going on around me.

So cool! I like that it has a heart rate feature. I may look into these further.

I did about half of my marathon training WITH music (or audiobooks) and about half of it without anything. It's definitely easier with something to listen to.

I'm going for my 10k training run this evening. I'm definitely taking my audiobook along with me... I'll have to check out these buds.
